If you want to know how to get a six pack, you need to know more than crunches. Abdominal exercises alone will not deliver the look you want.
The truth is, to get great-looking abdominal muscles, you need to do less abdominal exercise than you might think. Why? Because in order to have abs worth showing off, you need to lower your total body fat...and the way to do that is to get your body to burn more calories when you are resting.
The calories that you burn while working out is only a fraction of the total calories that you burn throughout the day. So if you can figure out a way to burn more calories throughout the day - while you're resting - you will burn more fat off of your stomach. That will lead to the "six pack" look.
The best way to do this is to increase your overall muscle strength. Stronger muscles require more calories throughout the day - even while you're resting. So, in addition to ab exercises, you want to focus on strengthening the largest muscle groups in your body. This includes your legs, chest, back, and arms.
Many body builders who reach a plateau in a certain body part find that they have a breakthrough when they work a different body part. For example: if they plateau on their chest, they focus on their legs. Then when they return to focus on their chest again, they find that they are much stronger.
This is because as you get stronger overall, your body "appreciates" the balance. It "thinks" that if one part is stronger, the other parts should also get stronger. Thus, it will reward your abdominals with a more six-pack appearance when you strengthen other muscle groups.
So if you want to know how to get a six pack, don't just focus on your abdominals...focus on all of you!
